Syrup / Melt Clarification System

Introdution:

Syrup coming out of evaporator station and raw sugar melt contains various organic material in colloidal form, the colouring matter derived from the clear juice added with colouring matter further developed during evaporation operation as such needs special attention for removal of various impurities so that the final product, i.e. sugar will have minimum colouring matter adsorbed in the inter-crystalline layers during crystallization process.

While syrup sulphitation followed by syrup clarification gives a bleaching effect and many more multifold advantages thereof, it has now become practice to resort to a “Syrup Clarification System” which can consistently produce sulphurless sugar of colour value less than 100 ICUMSA units, more particularly to take care of colour developed during long storage in the sugar stores.

Salient Features and advantages:

Ø      No proprietary formulated chemicals are required.  Low chemical consumption.

Ø      Assured colour reduction to the maximum extent, hence consistently better sugar quality.

Ø      Reduces viscosity hence improved workability of down stream process products.

Ø      Ensures reduction in turbidity level.

Ø      Homogeneous mixing of floatation chemical using “Inline Unifier”.

Ø      Single tray short retention scum clarifier provided for effective handling of scum, where mud solids are taken to vacuum filter and only clear liquid is returned to process; thus significantly avoiding recirculation of nonsugars.

Ø      Inline stationary strainer involving no moving parts for syrup/melt screening is better option instead of conventional vibro type screening.

Ø      Fully automatic dosing of all chemicals in proportion to syrup/melt inflow.

Ø      Mimic display on centralized control panel to observe the operation of the entire system at a glance.
